Privacy, explained clearly

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account information: your name, email address, password stored in hashed form, account status, and account role. If you use Google sign-in, we receive the basic identity information Google provides, such as your verified email and name.
• Nursery information: listing details, contact information, location, facilities, prices, photos, and information submitted when creating or claiming a nursery profile.
• Messages and contributions: nursery enquiries, contact requests, ratings, reviews, and any information you enter in those forms. Enquiries may include your name, email, phone number, message, and callback preference.
• Newsletter information: your email address and subscription status when you join or leave our mailing list.

Information collected when you use the service

Our servers receive routine technical information such as your IP address, request time, browser details, and pages requested. We use IP information for security, abuse prevention, rate limiting, and an approximate country suggestion. We do not use it to determine your precise location.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

• create, verify, secure, and support accounts;
• publish and manage nursery and camp listings;
• deliver enquiries to the nursery selected by the sender;
• moderate and display approved ratings and reviews;
• reply to questions and service requests;
• send confirmation, security, and requested newsletter emails;
• personalize country-based browsing and remember basic preferences;
• prevent spam, fraud, misuse, and technical problems; and
• understand service volume and maintain our operations.

We do not currently use personal information for behavioral advertising or sell it to data brokers.

3. When we share information

We share information only where it is needed to provide or protect the service:

• With nurseries: an enquiry is shared with the nursery you chose so it can respond. The nursery becomes responsible for how it handles that enquiry.
• Publicly: approved reviews may display their rating and written content. We do not publish the reviewer's internal account ID. Nursery listing information is public by design.
• With service providers: companies that provide hosting, database and media storage, transactional email, security, or technical infrastructure may process limited information for us under their own security and privacy terms.
• With integrated services: Cloudflare processes challenge and technical data when Turnstile appears on a form; Google processes information if you choose Google sign-in; and OpenStreetMap tile servers receive ordinary network request data when you open an interactive map.
• For legal and safety reasons: where reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, investigate abuse, or protect people, rights, and the service.
• Business changes: information may transfer as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of the service, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Some providers may process information outside your country, where privacy rules may differ. We select providers for a defined operational purpose and limit what we send to what that purpose requires.

4. Cookies and similar technology

You can clear or block cookies in your browser. Blocking the session cookie will stop sign-in from working, while blocking the country cookie means we may ask for or infer your country again.

5. How long we keep information

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain accurate records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. For example, account and listing information is generally kept while the account or listing is active; verification links expire after 24 hours; and newsletter suppression records may be retained so we respect an unsubscribe request.

Some content may remain after an account is closed where keeping it is necessary—for example, a moderation record or an approved review with its account reference removed. Backup copies may take additional time to cycle out securely.

6. Your choices

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in the message, update information available in your account or nursery workspace, and control cookies in your browser. Depending on the law that applies to you, you may also ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict, or provide a copy of your personal information.

Send a request to hello@nurseriesworld.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting, and some information may need to be retained for security, legal, or record-keeping reasons.

7. Security

We use practical safeguards including encrypted password storage, access controls, protected session cookies, input validation, abuse controls, and restricted administrative tools. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a unique password and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.

8. Children's privacy

Nurseries World is intended for parents, guardians, and nursery professionals—not for children to create accounts or submit personal information themselves. Please do not put sensitive information about a child, such as medical records or identity documents, into an enquiry or free-text form. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted personal information directly so we can review it.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the service or our practices change. We will update the date at the top and provide additional notice when a change materially affects how personal information is used.
